Your relationship manager is just a call away

If you have banking account or a brokerage account, you might have been emails with subject similar to “Your relationship manager is just a call away” and showing the various benefits of having a dedicated relation manager.

One such email can look like below –

“As a valued customer, you can always expect a seamless banking experience. To ensure the same, your Relationship Manager will be personally available to assist you in your smooth and hassle-free journey with us.

Your Relationship Manager will be available to respond to all your banking and investment related queries.”

But does that really happen –

  • Your RM may connect with you over call and seek a meeting to discuss your account features and how RM can help you make most of it
  • This is just a false alarm, they are never interested in you getting benefits of your account, all they want is how you can get them achieve their sales targets which can include
    • New Account
    • New Deposits
    • New unit trusts
    • New ILP’s
  • These are specific area where either they will earn huge commissions and/or achieve their sales targets.

What you may want –

  • In case of an email from bank regarding re-KYC, you may want some assistance from your RM but in these case either they will not respond to your email. In case you call them and if you had also sent an email previously, they won’t even pick the call
  • Interest Rates have gone down and you want to refinance your loan and you ask for assistance , they are not going to help you
